huelga (comentario del 7 de enero)

Short of calling for general nationwide strikes, there are precious few MODALITIES by which leaders of Nigeria's labor unions can acquire sufficient money to purchase modest homes with cash in the UK or Dubai.

The standard procedure, which has been repeated at least four times in Nigeria's recent history, is as follows :

1. The government threatens to raise fuel prices.
...
2. Labor union leaders threaten fire and brimstone if the fuel prices do go up.

3. On cue, the government doubles fuel prices overnight.

4. Privately delighted at their impending good fortune, but feigning indignant outrage in public, salivating labor leaders schedule nationwide strikes, licking their chops in eager anticipation of the coming windfall.

5. Amid much fanfare and publicity, the threatened strikes commence, with the odd protester shot dead by the police so as to lend an air of authenticity to the performance.

6. No later than the SECOND day of such strikes, Labor union leaders FINALLY get that cash call from the federal government.

7. Bug-eyed with glee, and drooling profusely, labor leaders take their places at the "Round Table Meeting" with obese government officials, where envelopes stuffed fat with hard currency are pressed into grasping hands.

8. Between browsing real-estate websites in preparation for the realization of their lifetime ambitions, Labor union leaders announce that a "breakthrough" has been reached in talks, signalling an end to the strike, 24-hours after attending the traditional Greasing of Palms ceremony with the president.

9. Precisely 36 hours into the strike, the 100% increase in fuel prices is reduced to a mere 80% increase, which is "grudgingly" accepted by the labor union leaders, who then call off the strike, after issuing the now contrite president with a "stern" admonition to keep the interests of the "common man" at heart.

10. After no more than 48 hours of national strike posturing, labor union leaders issue heartfelt thanks to God for His intervention, and call for a return to work, even as they book flights to Europe and the Middle East for the first of many memorable shopping sprees. Praise the Lord !See More

huelga

When a Nigerian pays N65 for imported fuel rather than locally refined fuel, he is subsidizing the incompetence of Government

· When a Nigerian has to buy a Generator and buy Petrol and Diesel because Electricity generation is worse off, he is subsidizing the incompetence in Government.

· When a Nigerian has to drill a borehole, buy pure water or Bottled water rather than get public potable Tap water, he is subsidizing the inefficiency of Government.

· When a Nigerian has to maintain 3 phone-lines or 3 different internet subscriptions just because of call-quality or crippled bandwidth, he is subsidizing the failures of Government regulation.

· When a Nigerian has to pay heavily to secure his life and property through personnel and gadgets, he is subsidizing the failure of Government to protect him constitutionally.

· For Bad roads, we subsidize by having to visit the mechanic more often than usual or sometimes with our lives.

We can go and on about the Educational system, Health sector, the Environment, Maritime, etc.

Its time for us to remove our own subsidy by making the government do what they are suppose to do. Govt don't do us a favour when they do d work of governance...its what they re supposed to do.

That is what the mass protests & strikes re about. ENOUGH is ENOUGH!!!
Please Read:
We have lost everything we met on the land. Cocoa, palm oil, groundnuts, cotton, cashew and rubber have been forgotten and are better produced by nations who came to learn from us. We have lost our moral compass, our society is fractured, our statehood is threatened. Our citizens are in all prisons around the world. Some of them prefer foreign prisons to coming back to Nigeria. Our passport is treated with disdain everywhere you present it. Why should our Senate Leader earn 600 million per annum? Why should our senators earn 30
million per month? Why should our National Assembly gulp 1.2trillion naira per annum while we try to save 1.4 trillion from subsidy removal ? Why should our government be this big with special advisers on cassava and beans affairs? Do we need 36
ministers? Why would our president spend close to a billion on food while close to eighty percent live on less than a dollar a day? Why should he budget a billion for generators and diesel when he is urging us to believe in his power sector reform? Why
does our President need 6 private
jets? Why do our governors move
around with twenty-vehicle convoys while David Cameron has just two vehicles and one outrider? Why should our politicians keep their salaries when Obama slashed his? Why should we continue to be wasteful when the handwriting on the wall says “danger”? Why should we believe this government when it says the subsidy gain will be properly reinvested. If U̶̲̥̅̊ are against subsidy removal. Copy and re-post, tweet, ping spread this d way U̶̲̥̅̊ can. Bad leadership and corruption must stop, This madness must stop nobody will fight for us if we refuse to challenge govt. We are not slaves. Solidarity for ever.

Step 1. Labour says no street protests. Sit at home. 2. President makes speech.Govt unilaterally sets price at N97(according to Labour). President appeals that we all go back to work. 3. Labour calls of strike. 4. Packages collected & we all live happily forever after.
NLC/TUC had never represented the masses in Nigeria. They ve sold us again. The painful part of this whole nonsense is the time wasted, its just 2 painful 2 see NLC/TUC betrayed us again.
